Finally

Bought a new strainer that fits reasonably well. Rigged it with sponges. I'll make something prettier after my trip.

Why did it take me so long to find a one inch strainer? Seriously

Update. Oops

I've been MIA. Haven't been to a PVAS meeting in four months due to just forgetting. Anyway

Sand.  It's pretty fantastic. WTF what I thinking about ever using gravel with corys?  Watching the corys bury their noses in the sand is seriously THE fucking cutest shit ever.  I'd have an aquarium full of corys just to see them do it all day. :3
Cleaning the sand? Yeah, not fucking fun.  Opie and Anthony helped pass time.  But hands were so messed up after touching sand. I used a large spoon to agitate the water after a while, but my hands still felt like I was at the beach all day long.  Burying my hand in the sand felt sooooo good.  I seriously need to go to the beach soon.

29 After gravel change.  No background, shutup.

White Cory dying after nearly 5 awesome years. Emerald is clearly depressed. I think I'll miss seeing him/her from my sisters room down the hallway. Late at night, not other lights on but the tank. I'm going to restock the tank real soon. I'm thinking two albino corys, 3 misc corys, 4 otos, 5 betta girls.  RIP cutie.

Single panda hanging in there. Can't believe three others died. I'm convinced I purchased a bad spawn.  Not mad, but I suppose after having my albino and emerald for over five years...I kinda expect song longevity from my fish.

The larger one
AAAH! SHITFUCK!  You see that?  It's trying to kill me/throw gang signs!

I am now the unproud owner of two ugly ass crayfish. Fancied up their pad (aka my hospital tank) for them. Thanks mom. I need to buy a divider because the larger one is aggressive. So ATM, big stupid is in a blue bucket with an air pump. Apparently there was a third one and it was killed due to aggressiveness. Why don't people research shit before getting a pet? Crayfish rule #1: one fucking monster per tank!  BTW, Big Stupid escaped his tank once.  Mother dear nearly stepped on him.  He's very lucky to be alive.
The smallest one
Their pad.  No divider yet

Hmm what else? Goldfish are still separated. I'll move them over shortly and see how they do. Purchasing a 75gal and a redcap is very, very tempting.  I want to buy new lights for everyone, but I've got Berlin on my mind.

Look at that wood! Look at it!
I am so stupidly proud.  Im 99% happy with it all.  The African java on the left seems like its too much, but it would provide more space for the shrimp.  I'll see how it feels in a week. Nervous as hell.

Roll Call

I should introduce the gang:

Hoover: Oranda
He had ick when I bought him. He also had a ammonia scar that looked like an eyebrow. After his treatment, he was nearly all black. As he healed, the black went away and he is now entirely orange. Growth pimples when the new orandas were introduced. His wen is so squishable!
Dyson: Black Moor
Not really black. His brood came out bronze and I love it. I've seen much, much darker moors than him. Nearly perfect tail, but has a permanent crease on lower caudal. He's the most affectionate during water changes. All the others shy away from my hand.

Bissell: Ryukin
He replaced Oreck, another calico ryukin that passed away the day after purchase. I consider him to be the smartest out of all of my fish. He is usually the first to reach the food.  His tail malformed. It doesn't fan out, but more so points down. He swims around just fine though. His hump has matured and protrudes more. Hes so handsome!
Dopey Clark: Oranda
A rescue from a woman in weird place in VA. Has his lazy days where he spends most of his time on the bottom. Perks up when its feeding time. He is absolutely stunning and I'm so proud I can provide him with a bigger crib! He's seriously the most baller fish ever. I did not name him, the previous owner did. I am his 3rd owner.

Lewis: Oranda
Rescue #2. Previous owner warned me of his "floaty" problems. It's been acting up lately, but Lewis loves peas=problem solved. He has such a fatty wen and it STILL gets growth pimples. I'm convinced that Lewis is the reason Hoover is finally growing a stronger wen. Pretty much a perfect fish. I'm glad I can provide good homes for them.  Still can't get over them living in a 20 gal for 2 years and they still managed to get this huge.
Grumpy : Stonefish
Not my fish, but he lives at the Baltimore Aquarium. He is terrifying.
First day together after two week quarantine. (55gal)

Los pollos hermanas

I should mention I went to NYC for a St Pattys day pub crawl.

Never, ever, again. I loved the city, loved the dumplings, hated the bitchiness! (okay so I really fucking loved Irish car bombs and limo rides too)

Anyway, sister bonding happened. I think that what I loved the most :)
This an attempt at an update. Last months PVAS meeting went well. Sold 3 10 gals to a lovely old man and after paying for a used Aquaclear 110...After makin MAD MONEY...I had $15 left over. Which I then gave to Seis because I owed her. Je suis tres pauvre :C  It was also the chili cook off too. I did not enter, nor did I stay at the meeting long enough to see what the prizes were.  The speaker was a total bore. I cant believe I spent an hour watching fish fuck each other. Horrible.

Luckily, no speaker next month! The BIG fish auction for PVAS is next . Imma go in there with crinkled dollar billz and bring home some cherries. I FUCKED up my last set up, so here's round two. My aquarium is 19 gals heavier and bloomin' with pretty low lighters :3 wish me luck!

I need to document the current state of my aquariums. I'm pretty much embarrassed to post them...but I know I'll be absolutely proud of my planted invertebrate tank. The 25 gal? fuck that tank. I want all ramshorns to die a slow painful death. The BITCH who was suppose to sell me assassin snails didn't come through.  I am too much of a pussy to squish them on my own.  I'll beautiful the 25 this year when I have the funds.

Money spent last month on fish shit ~$45

What I need to buy next:
  • 48" hood light (lol yeah right)
  • 24" bulb
  • 30lbs black gravel
  • driftwood
  • shrimp
  • black aquarium backgrounds (because anything else seems absolutely tacky to me)
  • more plants FUCK
Other update: New job, good bye old one in a week. Shit feels like its coming together for the first time in a few years. I like it.
